Watercolour Paintings Durham
Gina doesn’t need to travel far to find inspiration for her paintings;
the local countryside around North Yorkshire and South Durham provide
her with a wealth of material. For many years she enjoyed painting
outdoors (mostly in watercolours) and now, with the additional help
of a camera to record greater details, she is able to tackle more
complex subjects.
Whilst she is probably best known for her animal and landscape
studies, her pictures are her personal reaction to light and colour,
and so include a wide range of subjects.
As well as painting TRADITIONAL WATERCOLOURS on paper, she also
paints MINIATURES on ivorine. Although these works are very small
(typically about 3 x 2.5") they are completed in much greater
detail by building up layers of stippled colour. Her miniature works
have received many awards, including the Royal Miniature Society’s
Gold Memorial Bowl in 2005.
